Toys 4 Tots Charity Tournament

This weekend will be the last hoorah for The Dirty Birds softball team as we will be hanging up the cleats for the calendar year 2012. This tournament is one of the many reasons why I like the softball community in our region as I'm sure it's the same most anywhere. We are going to get together in the cold weather and play some ball in the name of donating some toys  and money to people who really need it at this time of year. That's a very selfless act and I'm sure Dom and the others who put on this tourney appreciate it greatly.  

Charlie Davis Coed Classic

The Dirty Birds brought back the coed team for a cancer tournament this past weekend and ended up doing pretty well considering that we haven't played together for three years. Going into Sunday we were 2 - 1 and had a double elimination Sunday to play through so after losing our first game of the day in the second game we played it was looking like Sunday was going to be short. That not being the "Dirty Bird" way we rallied to play seven games in a row and took third place in the tournament. It was a great softball weekend all around considering we were all there to support a fellow member of the softball community in his struggle with cancer.
